Why Your Next Computer Might Be A Linux PC – ReadWriteWeb

Linux Makes Netbooks Even More Affordable

In the rest of the computing world of desktop computers and mainstream notebooks, you’re typically choosing between Windows Vista or Mac OS X, but in the world of netbooks, it’s Linux or XP. Those two operating systems are perfect for netbooks thanks to their lower CPU and power requirements.

As any Linux fan will tell you, the beauty of this OS is its stability. These Linux machines don’t crash, boot quickly, and are generally known to be all-around reliable computers

Why Your Next Computer Might Be A Linux PC – ReadWriteWeb

Well, I am about to buy one – and mine will definitely come with Linux “on-board”. Not because I am a Linux, well, “fan-girl”, but because of its reliability, speed and the amount of quickly developing and amazing software (programs) I can use out of the box.

And what do you usually need when you are “on-the-road”. I need:

  • for the first – reliable and featuerich – browser – Firefox,
  • next – file manager – there are plenty of them to choose – my actual is called Nautilus,
  • perhaps some kind of media and/or music player – VLC,
  • reliable Office suite – Open Office,
  • and last but not least – IM – Pidgin.

This all come with preloaded Linux – this and much more. Isn’t it simply wondrful?

That’s why it’s only Linux for me…
