Why Your Next Computer Might Be A Linux PC – ReadWriteWeb
Linux Makes Netbooks Even More Affordable
In the rest of the computing world of desktop computers and mainstream notebooks, you’re typically choosing between Windows Vista or Mac OS X, but in the world of netbooks, it’s Linux or XP. Those two operating systems are perfect for netbooks thanks to their lower CPU and power requirements.
As any Linux fan will tell you, the beauty of this OS is its stability. These Linux machines don’t crash, boot quickly, and are generally known to be all-around reliable computers
Well, I am about to buy one – and mine will definitely come with Linux “on-board”. Not because I am a Linux, well, “fan-girl”, but because of its reliability, speed and the amount of quickly developing and amazing software (programs) I can use out of the box.
And what do you usually need when you are “on-the-road”. I need:
- for the first – reliable and featuerich – browser – Firefox,
- next – file manager – there are plenty of them to choose – my actual is called Nautilus,
- perhaps some kind of media and/or music player – VLC,
- reliable Office suite – Open Office,
- and last but not least – IM – Pidgin.
This all come with preloaded Linux – this and much more. Isn’t it simply wondrful?
That’s why it’s only Linux for me…
Gdium – In and out in Paris and Shanghai
Here are some precisions and pictures of the G-world accessories. Designed by the same team as the Gdium Liberty (beware, the website is written all in Chinese…) for indoor and outdoor use, they form an elegant, smart and functional set, made to enjoy Gdium Liberty 1000
Look at all those little and useful things – “geek’s heaven”, isn’t it?
And all of it is packed (with the real French elegance…) in nice looking bag:

So, there is a bit more to netbooks than Asus EEEPC or Acer One – nice!

Strid om brokkolipatent
Et britisk selskap ønsker å ta patent på en brokkolitype som motvirker kreft. 16 norske organisasjoner ber nå regjeringen om å prøve å stoppe patentet.
For all of you not speaking Norwegian – this is another story showing where the patents lead to. British company PBL would like to patent the type of broccoli which fights cancer. 16 Norwegian organisation ask government to [at least] try to stop patent.
I feel helpless and, well, pi***d off.
